Rupee trades flat against US dollar at 82.02 amid stocks rally

The rupee opened weak at 82.05 in the interbank foreign exchange market due to flat crude oil prices in Asian trade. And it moved in a narrow range from 82.01 to 82.07 in early trading.

The local unit was trading at 82.02 against the US dollar at 0940 hours, showing a gain of just 1 paisa from the latest closing at 82.03 on Wednesday.

The forex markets are closed on Thursday for the Packride holiday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.06 percent to 103.28.

Brent crude, the global benchmark for crude oil, was trading up 0.40 percent, at $74.64 a barrel.
