81% of edtech platform users face refund, trust issues: LocalCircles survey

About 81 percent of people surveyed had issues with refunds, trust, transparency and other education technology platforms, according to online survey platform LocalCircles.

The survey, conducted between February 16 and June 15, 2023, found that 32 percent of users had problems with BYJU’S, 10 percent with both Unacademy and Udemy, 3 percent with both Vedantu and Simplilearn and 2 percent with Physics. Wallah, LocalCircles said in a report.

“81 percent of online education platform users surveyed indicated that they had experienced one or more issues in the past 24 months,” said Local Circles.

The survey received about 32,000 responses, but the number of responses varied from one question to another.

The query about what kind of problems education technology users encounter received nearly 12,000 responses that included issues about faculty changes/effectiveness issues, refund issues, trust issues such as false promises and transparency issues.

In response to the survey, a Physics Wallah spokesperson said the company is fully committed to ensuring student satisfaction and quickly resolving any issues they encounter.

“With an exceptional success rate of more than 99 percent in resolving student tickets over the past 12 months, we prioritize providing timely answers to student needs,” said the spokesperson.
