Railtel posts highest ever operating income of Rs 1,964 cr in FY 2022-23

RailTel on Wednesday reported consolidated operating income of Rs.704 crore in the fourth quarter of FY22-23 with 55 percent growth quarter-on-quarter at its 139th Board Meeting.

The company has recorded a 27 per cent YoY growth in revenue, with total consolidated operating revenue at Rs. 1,964 crores as against the corresponding figure of the previous year of Rs. 1,548 crores. The company had an EBITDA margin of 20 percent in the fourth quarter, compared to a third quarter of 17 percent.

As per the company’s official statement, the profit before tax (PBT) in the fourth quarter of FY22-23 before extraordinary items is Rs. 67 crore as against the corresponding profit for the previous quarter of Rs. 43 crores, an increase of 56 percent on a quarterly basis.

For the financial year 2022-23, the company recorded gross profit before extraordinary items and taxes of Rs. 257 crore as against Rs. 231 crores in the previous financial year. Gross profit after taxes and exceptional items for the fiscal year 2022-23 stands at Rs. 189 crore as against the profit of the previous year after tax of Rs. 209 crores.

Speaking about the results, Sanjay Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of RailTel, said that the company has performed exceptionally well with steady growth in operating revenues and healthy earnings.

“We have a very good order book of Rs 4,500 crore, which will steadily translate into revenue in the coming quarters in a phased manner. With an increased focus on project execution, the company has the potential for significant growth in operating income in the coming quarters,” he said.
