Karnataka Bank appoints Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma as MD & CEO

The bank informed the exchanges that as per the approval received from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Board of Directors at its meeting held on Friday has appointed Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma as an additional Director to assume the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank for a period of three years from the date he took over.

She said that the appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders at the next annual general meeting or within three months from the date of assuming responsibility, whichever is earlier.

Sarma has nearly four decades of experience spread across commercial, retail and transaction banking, technology and payments.

The bank told the exchanges that he was part of the founding management team at HDFC Bank Ltd for more than nine years. As the Country Head – Banking and Transaction Operations, he has been involved in setting up the Corporate and Retail Banking, Treasury, and Capital Markets Infrastructure businesses. Launched commercial vehicle and construction equipment (CV/CE) lending, channel financing, margin lending in the capital markets, and medium corporate lending businesses.

in Yes Bank LtdAs CEO and member of the Board of Directors, he has been instrumental in creating the commercial banking infrastructure covering operations, technology, retail, transaction banking, payments, trade finance, loan servicing and treasury operations.

At Jio Payments Bank Limited, as Managing Director and CEO, he was responsible for the application and coordination of license approval with RBI, company incorporation, board formation, strategic direction and start-up of operations in 2018.

The bank added that it has worked extensively to build systems and technology to support supply chain finance and provide digital banking platforms to various banks inside and outside India.
