HDFC Bank on Monday suspended a senior employee after a video of his unruly behavior with juniors in achieving business goals went viral on social media.

The country’s largest private lender has suspended a Kolkata-based deputy chief officer after he began posting a video highlighting his abusive behavior towards his subordinates on social media.

“Based on a preliminary investigation into the matter, the employee concerned has been suspended and a detailed investigation has commenced, which will be conducted in accordance with the Bank’s Conduct Guidelines,” the lender said in a statement.

The bank added that it has a “zero tolerance policy” for any form of misconduct and believes in treating all its “employees with dignity and respect”.

In the undated video, the employee who is said to be a vice president in charge of regional bank branching is seen asking colleagues to sell insurance policies, leading to concerns about misselling financial products as bank employees chase these targets.
