FinMin releases Revenue Deficit Grant of ₹7,183 crore to 14 States

The Ministry of Finance has released the sixth monthly installment of the Post-Devolution Disability Grant (PDRD) of INR 7,183.42 crore to 14 countries.

The installment issued by the Spending Department on Tuesday based on the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Committee.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Tuesday that with the issuance of the sixth installment for September 2022, the total amount of revenue deficit grant issued to states in 2022-2023 has increased to ₹43,100.50 crore.

West Bengal received the highest amount of Rs 1,132.25 crore in the sixth installment, followed by Kerala, which received Rs 1,097.83 crore. Andhra Pradesh received Rs 879.08 crore, Himachal Pradesh received Rs 781.42 crore, Punjab received Rs 689.5 crore, and Uttarakhand received Rs 594.75 crore.

“The eligibility of countries to receive this grant and the amount of the grant for the period from 2020-21 to 2025-26 were determined by the Fifteenth Finance Committee based on the gap between the assessment of revenues and expenditures for the country after taking into account the estimated value of power transfer during this period,” the ministry said.

Overall, the PDPR scholarship worth $86,201 crore is to be issued to 14 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, and Uttarakhand, West Bengal for this financial year in 12 equivalent monthly instalments.
