Despite the exorbitant budget of $250 million allocated to Citadel, the series did not captivate viewers as expected and did not achieve the required audience participation.
Initially, it was planned that the first season of Citadel would consist of eight episodes, each with a budget of $20 million. However, only six episodes were ultimately broadcast. To address the production challenges encountered during the first season, Joe Russo was hired as director for all episodes of the second season. It is reported that he will receive an impressive compensation of $25 million for his role.
In light of reports about potential layoffs affecting a large number of employees, Amazon is now closely examining the budget details of its high-profile offerings, including Citadel. The reports also highlight that Amazon’s partnership with Priyanka Chopra Jonas hasn’t yielded significant results yet.
