Indiana Fever players Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull and others shared heartfelt reactions to Aari McDonald’s latest Instagram post. McDonald, who has quickly become a fan favorite in Indiana since joining the team on a hardship contract, has made a strong impact with her performance and energy.
On Sunday, the 5-foot-6 guard posted a series of photos in her Fever game jersey and training gear. What truly caught the attention of fans and teammates was her powerful caption, where she openly expressed her unwavering faith in God.
“God’s Plan > My Plan,” McDonald wrote.
Fever players were quick to respond to McDonald’s no-nonsense message. Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull and others showed their support by dropping warm, encouraging reactions on their teammate’s post.
“Always his plan,” Boston commented.
“Always,” Hull wrote.
“we love this!” Cunningham commented.
“always!!” wrote Sydney Colson.
McDonald’s post came on the heels of the Fever’s commanding 25-point victory over the Chicago Sky on Saturday. It was only her second appearance for the Indiana-based franchise, yet she once again impressed with a standout all-around performance.
The veteran guard tallied 12 points on 4 of 8 shooting, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range, and a perfect 1 of 1 from the free-throw line. In just 25 minutes off the bench, she also contributed two rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block, further cementing her growing impact on the team.
Aari McDonald leads all Indiana Fever players in plus/minus
When Caitlin Clark went down with a quad strain, followed shortly by Sophie Cunningham joining her on the sidelines, the outlook for the Indiana Fever looked grim. In desperate need of a spark, the team turned to Aari McDonald and she delivered exactly that, injecting a surge of energy and inspiration that immediately uplifted the squad.
In just two games, the 5-foot-6 guard has showcased her versatility and impact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, her aggressiveness and shot-making have been outstanding, while defensively, she’s been relentless, hounding opponents, drawing offensive fouls and making life difficult for anyone she guards.
McDonald’s impact has been so significant that she currently leads all Fever players in plus/minus at +12.5. It is the highest among all players not on the undefeated Minnesota Lynx or New York Liberty. She’s averaging 9.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game, making an immediate case for a longer stay in Indiana.
