Walmart Global Tech gets Balu Chaturvedula as new Country Head for India

Walmart Global Tech, the tech arm of the US retail giant, has promoted Balu Chaturvedula as its country chief for India operations, the company said Tuesday.

Chaturvedula joined Walmart in 2015 and was previously Vice President of Supply Chain Technology for Walmart’s U.S. subsidiary, Omni Tech.

“We are delighted to welcome the new position as Country Head of Walmart Global Tech in India. Balu’s extensive tech experience and tenure as a leader at Walmart will greatly benefit our efforts as a people-led, technology-enabled omni-channel retailer,” Suresh Kumar, Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Global and Director of Development, Walmart Inc.

The statement reads that Chaturvedula will succeed Hari Vasudev, who will move to a global position in Bentonville, Arkansas as Executive Vice President of Global Tech Platforms.

In his new role, Chaturveda will be based in Bangalore and will drive Walmart Global Tech’s innovation vision.

An engineering graduate from the University of Madras, Chaturveda previously worked with HP and Yahoo! Motorola in different roles.
