Spice institute launches online sales portal
With an aim to broaden the market reach of emerging small agricultural companies, the Indian Spice Research Institute, Kozhikode, has launched an online sales portal, Spiisry.
The portal https://spiisry.in aims to connect farmers, startups and customers. You will market more than 150 products, including health and wellness products, spice-based cosmetics, seasoning powders, planting materials, bio-fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs developed in the IISR nursery.
The portal also doubles as the Startup Promotion Unit of the International Research and Training Institute, providing support and training to young entrepreneurs.
The portal aims to display and market the licensed technologies of all the institutes affiliated to ICAR. Currently, it offers products from 11 licensees and five ICAR institutes.
R Dinesh, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, said that in addition to start-ups, entrepreneurs and farmers, the portal is expected to generate revenue through direct delivery of agricultural products across the country.
Kisan Siva Kendra, an outlet selling vital inputs from all ICAR institutes, has also been launched at Kozhikode Campus. The facility aims to provide small and marginal farmers easy access to critical ICAR inputs.
