Some McD outlets temporarily drop tomato from menu, cite supply issues
McDonald’s India (North & East) has temporarily dropped tomato from its menu in New Delhi. The company attributed this to the lack of sufficient quantities of vegetables that meet its quality specifications.
The fast food chain said in a statement: “Due to seasonal crop problems arising from farm fields in a few areas, there are not enough quantities available to meet our quality specifications.
To ensure our customers get the best quality they are known to provide, we are obligated to carry tomatoes at this time.” But the company added that the move was not due to the high price of tomatoes.
“We would like to bring to your attention that restaurants located mostly in the Punjab-Chandigarh region where we can get sufficient quantities, continue to serve tomatoes,” the company said.
