Shares open lower on hawkish remarks from Fed’s Powell

Indian stocks Thursday opened lower amid caution after US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell reiterated the possibility of raising interest rates to counter inflation.

The benchmark Nifty index fell 0.07 percent to 18,844.05 as of 9:16 am, while the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex index lost 0.10 percent to 63459.22.
