Rupee slips 4 paise to 82.24 against firm dollar in early trade

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened 12 pounds lower at 82.32 as the US dollar rebounded against global currencies in early Asian trade.

The rupee pared some losses to trade at 82.24, posting a loss of 4 pounds from the previous close at 82.20 on Thursday.

Traders said that the strength of the US dollar and losses in local stocks affected the local unity.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.06 percent, at 102.63.

Crude oil Prices fell in early Asian trade on reports that the US is likely to delay restocking its strategic reserves despite the current low prices.

Brent crude fell 0.16 percent to $75.79 a barrel.
