Rupee falls 13 paise to close at 82.12 against US dollar

Dilip Parmar, research analyst at HDFC Securities, said the Indian rupee gave back Monday’s gains after corporate dollar inflows and demand for dollars from importers.
“Domestic traders will look to tomorrow’s inflation data and international investment data for directional movement. Market consensus expects lower inflation numbers along with slower output growth,” Parmar said.
He added that the spot INR-USD exchange rate may consolidate between 81.70 to 82.50 in the near term.
The dollar index fell 0.46 percent to 102.10 points.
Brent crude futures rose 0.30 percent to $84.43 a barrel.
On the domestic stock market front, mad cow disease Sensex closed up 311.21 points, or 0.52 percent, at 60,157.72 points. NSE Nifty advanced 98.25 points, or 0.56 percent, to 17,722.30 points.
Foreign institutional investors were net buyers in the capital market on Monday buying shares worth Rs 882.52 crore, according to exchange data.
