Paytm Q4 loss narrows sharply to ₹168 crore, revenue up 51%
One97 Communications, which owns the Paytm brand, reported a consolidated net loss of Rs. 168 crore for the quarter ended 31st March 2023.
This loss is much narrower than the net loss of ₹761 crore in the same quarter last year and the net loss of ₹392 crore in the last December quarter.
For the entire 2022-23 financial year, Paytm’s consolidated net loss came in at Rs.1,776 crore, much narrower than the net loss of Rs.2,396 crore in the previous financial year.
Consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter under review increased by 51% year-on-year to Rs.2,334 crore. Revenue growth led to higher gross merchandise value (GMV), higher merchant subscription revenue, and growth in loans distributed through the company’s platform.
Gross merchandise value (GMV) for the quarter increased by 40 per cent year-on-year to Rs.3.62 crore (Rs.3.46 thousand crores).
Monthly Average Transactional Users (MTU) for the fourth quarter grew by 27 per cent YoY to Rs 9 crore due to continued adoption of mobile payments by consumers and merchants in India.
