Over 4.15 lakh tonnes of soyabean purchased at MSP till December 12
Government agencies have procured around 12 per cent of the sanctioned quantity of soyabean at minimum support price (MSP) till December 12 at over 4.15 lakh tonnes, even as the procurement window is set to close from end of this month in some states. Public procurement of soyabean at MSP is currently on in six states by the government agencies and the sanctioned quantity for procurement by the Agriculture Ministry is over 33.60 lakh tonnes.
Soyabean prices are currently hovering around ₹4100-4200 levels per quintal and much lower than the MSP of ₹4892 per quintal. In Indore, the average prices are ruling around ₹4186 per quintal, about 11 per cent lower than same period last year.
As per the latest procurement data from NAFED, in Madhya Pradesh, the largest producing state, soyabean purchases under MSP have crossed 2.16 lakh tonnes till December 12. The sanctioned quantity for procurement in MP is 13.68 lakh tonnes. Soyabean procurement in MP, which started on October 25 will end on December 31.
In Maharashtra, the procurement is over 1.09 lakh tonne and the sanctioned quantity for procurement is 14.13 lakh tonnes. The procurement will go on till January 12.
In Rajasthan, only about 11,202 tonnes has been procured, while the sanctioned quantity is 2.94 lakh tonnes. Similarly in Gujarat, about 11,973 tonnes have been procured and the sanctioned quantity is 1.14 lakh tonnes. Procurement in Gujarat will end on February 9, next year, while in Rajasthan it will end on January 15.
In Telangana, over 58,340 tonnes have been procured as against the sanctioned quantity of 59,508. The procurement in Telangana will end on December 23. In Karnataka, of the sanctioned quantity of 1.11 lakh tonnes, only 7,259 tonnes. The procurement in Karnataka which started on September 5 will end on January 2.
