Mother Dairy to invest Rs 400 cr to set up unit in Nagpur: Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said Mother Dairy will invest Rs 400 crore in Nagpur in a project for which the government will give 10 hectares of land.

Speaking to reporters to highlight the achievements in nine years of Narendra Modi’s government, the BJP leader and Nagpur Lok Sabha Member of Parliament said dairy products from the proposed unit would be supplied across the country.

“The company will buy 30 liters of milk per day from the farmers. It will benefit the farmers in Nagpur and other areas in Vidarbha,” he said.

Mother Dairy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and was commissioned in 1974 as part of Operation Flood.

Asked about job creation in the district, Gadkari said that 68,000 people got jobs in Meehan, which houses many companies, adding that employment has risen in the government as well as in the private sector.
