More than 3,000 fishermen benefit from training by CIFNET
The Central Institute for Maritime and Engineering Fisheries Training (CIFNET) organizes training programs for fishers to address critical gaps in fisheries fisheries sector such as the safety, security and welfare of fishermen; improve production and productivity; Increase processing and add value.
To reach fishermen across the country, CIFNET has formed a task force and designed training programs for various coastal states and union territories. More than 3,000 fishermen have benefited through various internal skill development and awareness training programs conducted by CIFNET over the past three years.
CIFNET, as a national deep sea fishing training institute, plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of life of fishermen by developing their skills for safe and efficient operation of deep sea fishing vessels and thus increasing productivity through various training programmes. Through these training programs, fishermen across coastal states and union territories have been able to enhance their general skills in exploiting deep-sea fisheries resources by following appropriate safety measures and seafaring practices.
