MEIL group company bags Rs 500 crore order from defence ministry
IComm, a subsidiary of Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) group, has secured a Rs 500 crore order from the Ministry of Defence.
“The Ministry of Defense on Thursday signed a contract with ICOMM Tele Limited for the purchase of 1,035 of the 5/7.5 ton containers of radio communication equipment. The delivery of the containers is scheduled to start from the current fiscal year 2023-24. Infrastructure company MEIL said in a statement on Thursday.
It said the contract value is around Rs 500 crore.
The Radio Relay Containers will address a long-awaited requirement of the Mobile Communications Detachments of the Indian Army. The containers will be used to provide a protected environment for communications equipment to operate in a safe and reliable manner. The company said that the containers will be installed on specialized approved vehicles and will be transported according to operational requirements.
ICOMM will produce containers with all equipment and subsystems sourced from local manufacturers.
This will give an additional impetus to the domestic manufacturing of defense equipment and will stimulate the private sector to actively participate in realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbar Bharat.
