Maruti Suzuki reports 2% rise in retail sales at 159,418 units in June

Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest automaker, on Saturday announced a 2 percent increase in total wholesale sales at 1,59,418 units in June.

MSI said in a statement that the company sent 1.55857 units to merchants in June 2022.

She added that last month, the company’s domestic passenger car sales increased by 8 percent to 1,33,027 units, compared to 1,22,685 units in the same period last year. Small car sales, which included the Alto and Spresso, were down slightly to 14,054 units, compared to 14,442 units in the same month last year.

Similarly, sales in the compact segment, including models such as the Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, fell 17 percent to 64,471 units from 77,746 in June 2022.

Ciaz midsize sedan sales rose to 1,744 units, compared to 1,507 units in June last year.

MSI said sales of utility vehicles, including the Brezza, Grand Vitara and Ertiga, more than doubled to 43,404 units, compared to 18,860 vehicles last month.

The company said exports fell 17 percent to 19,770 units, compared to 23,833 units in the same month last year.
