LGBTQIA+ Inclusion: Financial Sector Bats at The Forefront, Implementing Progressive Policies

The finance industry has been at the forefront of this movement in the corporate sector.
Far from just the Rainbow brand, many finance companies in India are actively implementing progressive policies to promote LGBTQIA+ inclusion and promote a more inclusive society in general.

Led by such high-profile names as Axis Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Protium, and Wells Fargo, they have championed the rights and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Comprehensive policies
Axis Bank ensures that all employees, regardless of gender, gender or marital status, can list their partners for treatment benefits. It also allows clients to open joint accounts and add same-sex partners as candidates. In addition, customers can choose the title “Mx” in savings accounts or term deposits.
Goldman Sachs celebrates Pride month It conducts events to educate employees about different sexual orientations and gender identities. The Pride and Transgender Flag was raised at their Bengaluru campus. The company has implemented gender-inclusive policies, allowing for self-identification and providing internal networking opportunities.

Wells Fargo implemented a training and employment model in collaboration with PeriFerry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving skills and providing job training for transgender individuals. This program not only provides valuable employment opportunities, but also empowers transgender individuals by providing them with the necessary skills and support to thrive in the workplace.
JPMorgan introduced the Transgender Training Program. Supported by the Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs, this 20-week program includes eight weeks of classroom training with a non-profit partner followed by a 12-week internship at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Indian corporate centers across various lines of business. The program not only provides valuable work experience, but also mentorship and support for transgender individuals.
Protium organized impactful panel sessions featuring three speakers from the LGBTQIA+ community and attracted 1 lakh viewership on the live stream. It has made the anti-sexual harassment policy gender-neutral, ensuring that employees are protected regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.
