Ingka Centre to open its first India retail centre in Gurugram in 2025
Ingka Centers, part of Ikea’s retail operator Ingka Group, said on Wednesday that it will open its first retail center in India in late 2025.
The center named ‘Lykli’ will be inaugurated in Gurugram, Haryana.
The company is investing €400 million (roughly Rs. 3,500 crores) in the Gurugram project. It also plans to set up a similar center in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
“The first asset to bear the bright and vibrant new brand will be the Lykli Gurugram meeting place in Delhi NCR, which is scheduled to open in late 2025,” Ingka Centers said in a statement.
Lykli’s name comes from “lycklig”, a Swedish word for “happy” and was chosen by her prospective clients in India.
She added that “Ingka centers invited people to share their feelings about the many potential names, and they were instinctively drawn to the happiness, exuberance, and dynamism that ‘Leakley’ embodied.”
Ingka Centers offers shopping, office space, food and beverage outlets and social activities that collaborate with the local community.
The statement said the meeting venue will be anchored by IKEA and has been designed to cater to local needs with a fun mix of dining and entertainment complemented by a variety of retail stores from international and local brands.
Earlier this year, Ingka Centers entered into an agreement with leading cinema exhibitor PVR (now PVR Inox), which will operate a nine-screen movie complex at the Gurugram project.
