India bans white rice exports with immediate effect

The Indian government has banned the export of white (non-basmati) rice with immediate effect. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notice that white rice exports were shifted to the “prohibited” list from the “free” list.

She added that the ban includes half-milled or completely ground.
