In-home cardio care: Lupin Digital, American College of Cardiology tie up

Lupin Digital Health’s wholly owned subsidiary, Lupin Digital Health, through its digital therapy venture, is collaborating with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to provide at-home cardiovascular care in India. The digital therapy (DTx) platform, Lyfe, also aims to provide patients and healthcare providers with tools to manage heart disease at home and help patients stay healthy after discharge, thereby reducing hospital readmissions.

“The primary focus of the ACC partnership is to reassure cardiologists that DTx is here to stay and is the healthcare delivery mechanism of the future, and to accelerate adoption among cardiologists,” said Siddharth Srinivasan, CEO of Lupine Digital Health, India’s first DTx player to partner exclusively with ACC.

Srinivasan added, “Digital therapies are essential in India to reduce disease burden as it increases the reach of every cardiologist, making heart care more accessible and convenient.”

Heart disease disproportionately strikes Indians at a younger age, and often without warning, according to the Indian Heart Association. Studies also highlight that Indians suffer from heart disease at least a decade earlier than their Western counterparts.

“Indians have a disproportionately higher burden of heart disease, which often occurs earlier in life (under 50) and is more aggressive. Thus, knowledge of heart disease among Indians is very important,” said Ami P Bhatt, ACC Chief Innovation Officer.

Through this collaboration, Lupine Digital Health aims to leverage the CardioSmart platform, guidelines and workbooks of the ACC. These tools can be accessed via the Lyfe app.

“Lupin Digital Health’s unique value proposition lies in providing patients with the convenience of monitoring and rehabilitation, all from the comfort of their own home, while receiving comprehensive care from their treating cardiologists,” said Rajeev Sibal, Head of India Region Fixtures at Lupine.
