Hybrid job roles surge 60% and on-site down 10%, shows LinkedIn data

Even with rebalancing to pre-pandemic levels, Indian companies across sectors are leaning toward flexibility in work placement more than ever while hiring employees this year, data from professional services network LinkedIn reveals.

Position-only job roles are down 10 percent year-over-year, while open hybrid positions are up 60 percent for entry-level roles, compared to 2022.

The study is based on comparing the percentage of all jobs posted on LinkedIn that were remote, hybrid, or on-site in January-February 2023 versus the same period last year.

This shift provides fresh graduates with a wide range of work arrangements to choose from. For entry-level roles, design, analytics, and JavaScript were the best skills for entry-level roles, the report says.

For bachelor’s degree holders, roles such as risk advisor, investment manager, and financial officer have seen the highest growth. Employers were also looking for graduate MBAs for positions such as technology associate, catalog specialist, and business integration analyst.

LinkedIn recently released its 2023 Guide to Starting Your Career, which featured product development, human resources (HR), consulting, and military and protective services as the fastest-growing areas for bachelor’s degree holders.

Year-over-year employment growth in product management was 48.6 percent in 2022, compared to the previous year. It was followed by human resources at 33.7 percent, and military services and protection at 27.1 percent.

Financial services, administrative services, support services, technology, information and media, and accommodation are some of the most important industries in India that are currently in employment mode. These sectors offer promising avenues for recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree.

The study adds that there are a lot of offers on the rise in the areas of administrative and support services, accommodation, and financial services, even for those without a bachelor’s degree. Companies on the platform have been keen to hire employees without a bachelor’s degree for roles such as hiring coordinator, user interface designer, and application architect.
