Govt to retail subsidised chana dal in Delhi through Nafed

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, Public Distribution, Textiles, Trade and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has launched the sale of subsidized chana dal under the brand name Bharat Dal at a rate of €60 per kilogram for a one-kilogram package and £55. Per kg for a 30 kg box on Monday.

The retail outlets of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association (NAVED) Delhi – NCR sell Channa Dal.

An official statement said the introduction of Bharat Dal is a major step taken by the center towards making the pulses available to consumers at affordable prices by transferring the shares of state chana to chana dal.

Milling and packaging is done by Nafed for distribution through Delhi-NCR retail outlets and also through NCCF, Kendriya Bhandar and Safal outlets. Under this arrangement, chana dal is also available to state governments for supplies under welfare, police and prison schemes, and also for distribution through consumer co-op outlets, the statement said.

Chana is the most widely produced pulse in India and is consumed in several forms all over India.
