GMR Smart Electricity Distribution gets Rs 7,593-cr order for meter in UP

GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited (GPUIL) on Monday announced that its arm GMR Smart Electrical Distribution Company has been awarded a smart metering project worth Rs 7,593 crore in Uttar Pradesh.

The project has been secured under the Government of India’s Revised Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) programme.

“Subsidiary GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Pvt. Ltd has secured a prestigious order of Rs 7,593 crore. The order, received under the DBFOOT (Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate and Transfer) model, entails 75.69 lakh of prepaid smart meters via Harassment, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) and the largest aggregate order of its kind.”

The project will cover 22 districts covering prominent areas like Varanasi, Prayag Raj, Agra, Mathura and Aligarh, among others.

The scope of the project includes the design, supply, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of prepaid smart meter infrastructure covering consumer premises, as well as at the network level, including distribution transformers and feeders for a period of 10 years.
