Flexi-work options, mental health top workplace expectations of Gen Z

Flexible work options, organizations that value mental health and inclusivity are the most important factors that make Gen Z happy in their workplace, a study said Friday.

About 64 percent of respondents said flexible work options make for a good workplace, while 61 percent said they would accept a lower salary rather than an organization that values ​​mental health and inclusiveness, a study entitled The Future of Happiness reveals. The study also revealed that 52 percent of respondents preferred organizations that promote non-judgmental self-expression and 48 percent felt that personal contact with senior management was a must.

The study is based on a survey among 4,000 professionals, students, and apprentices working in 13 cities in the 18-25 age group who are part of the Generation Z population. Broadly, Generation Z consists of people born between 1996 and 2010.

“This study serves as a guide for leaders, HR professionals and people to proactively respond to the dynamic expectations and desires of Generation Z. The study also stated that GenZ is redefining work and the workplace by sticking to its values ​​and seeing business as a bridge between passion and purpose and will choose an organization that has a “strong reason to exist” that goes beyond wealth creation and profitability.

She said GenZs thrive in environments that foster collaboration and adaptability, allowing them to be themselves and drive meaningful change.

The study added that they value transparency and open communication and want us to initiate collaborative dialogues with employees and visualize organizations as communities.
