ELGI Sauer Compressors sets new manufacturing unit to produce compressors
ELGI Sauer Compressors Ltd, a joint venture between Elgi Equipments Ltd and the Germany-based Sauer Compressors Group, has set up a manufacturing facility with an investment of around Rs 400 million.
Spread across 50,000 sq. ft. in Kalappalayam near here, this facility will manufacture state-of-the-art high pressure compressors, pressure reducing plants and portable breathing air compressors for the Industrial, Shipping, Marine and Offshore markets.
The manufacturing unit will house an engineering center to support the Sauer Compressors range worldwide.
“This is an important milestone in our journey towards market leadership and sustainable business growth for ELGI Sauer Compressors in India,” said Satish Kenny, CEO of ELGI Sauer Compressors Ltd in a company press release.
“This factory with an expanded manufacturing capacity will help us enhance the engineering, localization and product support capabilities of both constituent entities and establish a strong after-sales service network,” he said.
Jairam Varadaraj, managing director of Elgi Equipments Ltd, said: “The ELGI Sauer joint venture, established in 2008, has brought advanced technology, wide product range, increased availability due to localization and improved product support for marine, offshore and related special applications.”
He added, “Over 14 years of partnership, we have established a specialized identity in the high-pressure market in India and neighboring countries. Today, ELGI Sauer Compressors has strong knowledge of the local market, localization prospects to be more competitive, and opportunities to provide customized solutions.”
