BSE Sensex, Bankex derivatives gaining traction
The recently relaunched S&P BSE Sensex and S&P BSE Bankex derivative contracts saw turnover of Rs.17,345 crore (Rs.17,316 crore in options and Rs.29 crore in futures) during the second weekly expiry on the Bahrain Bourse today.
“BSE Ltd has seen a continued rise in both sales volume and open interests for these contracts, which uniquely expire on Fridays,” reads a statement from the exchange.
Today, 2,78,341 contracts are traded on the exchange with 98,242 transactions. Before expiry, the total open interest was 20,700 contracts valued at Rs 1,280 crore.
“The activity we are seeing in these contracts attests to the fact that there is growing interest and interest in these new products for market participants,” said Sundararaman Ramamurthy, Managing Director and CEO, BSE.
