Amit Agrawal appointed UIDAI CEO, Subodh Kumar Singh named DG NTA
Senior IAS officials Amit Agrawal and Subodh Kumar Singh have been appointed as CEO of India’s Unique Identification Authority and director general of the National Testing Agency, respectively, as part of a bureaucratic shake-up by the centre.
Both Agrawal (class of 1993) and Singh (class of 1997) are Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from the Chhattisgarh cadre.
Agrawal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority at the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India, the Ministry of Personnel order says.
Singh, who is currently an Additional Secretary in the Food and Public Distribution Department of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has been appointed as the Director General of NTA.
Richa Sharma, additional secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has been transferred to the Department of Food and Public Distribution to replace Singh, according to the order issued late Sunday night.
Rashmi Chowdhury, Additional Secretary in the Personnel and Training Department, appointed as Secretary in the Central Information Committee.
Shyam Jaganathan, who is currently appointed as the Development Commissioner for the Exclusive Export Processing Zone in Santa Cruz, Special Economic Zone, Mumbai, will now be the Director General (Shipping) in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The order said senior bureaucrat Sanjeev Kumar Chadha will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Phumlonmang Phwalnam will be Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Ramesh Krishnamurthy will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
As many as 13 senior officers have been appointed to various central government departments.
LS Changsan will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, R Anand will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Land Resources and Maninder Kaur Dwivedi will be Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
As per the order, Dwivedi will also take on the additional responsibility of the Managing Director of the Small Farmers Agribusiness Federation.
Vipin Kumar, Joint Secretary in the School Education and Literacy Department, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the School Education and Literacy Department.
Sunil Kumar Barnwal, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, will be an Additional Secretary in the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education.
The Cabinet Appointments Committee (ACC) has also approved the promotion of two on-site officers to the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India by upgrading their temporary post.
Accordingly, Sanjay Sethi, Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Trust, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will be at the rank and pay of Additional Secretary. The order said that Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, the joint secretary in the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, would be an additional secretary in the same ministry.
