Air India launches second Mangaluru-Mumbai flight service starting June 10
Air India has strengthened flight connectivity between Mangaluru and Mumbai by introducing a second daily flight from June 10.
This development follows the addition of a third daily flight by IndiGo on the Mumbai-Mangaluru route on May 22, the airport statement reads here.
The two companies now offer a combined total of five daily trips on this popular route. In 2022, Mumbai-Mangaluru road emerged as the busiest, serving approximately 4.90 lakh commuters.
Air India flight (1679) departs Mumbai at 12.40pm and arrives in Mangaluru at 2.10pm. The return leg, AI (1680), departs Mangaluru at 2.50pm and arrives in Mumbai at 4.35pm.
The service’s inaugural flight picked up 182 passengers on the AI (1,679), while 167 departed for Mumbai on the AI (1,680). Another Air India flight, AI (679), leaves Mumbai at 5.45 am and arrives here at 7.20 am. On the return flight, Flight AI (680) will depart Mangaluru at 7.55 am and arrive in Mumbai at 9.35 am.
IndiGo indicated that it will continue to operate its third daily flight to Mumbai until the end of the airline’s current summer schedule, which ends on October 28.
Initially planned through June 15, the low-cost carrier has extended the flight’s availability for ticket bookings to July 31. As a result, MIA currently experiences an average air traffic of 38 ATMs, with the number of passengers (both domestic). and international) hovering around 5,000, the statement said.
