Adani Wilmar files complaint against sale of counterfeit Fortune products
Edible oil company Adani Wilmar Ltd said on Saturday it had filed a police complaint against the B2B platform for allegedly distributing counterfeit products under its “Fortune” brand name.
As part of a routine market survey, Adani Wilmar representatives discovered malpractice.
In a statement, the company said it had filed an FIR, through its agency, against the B2B platform for alleged distribution of counterfeit products on the platform.
The FIR has been filed at Badalpur Police Station in Gautam Bodnagar district, Uttar Pradesh.
Law enforcement raided a B2B (business-to-business) platform warehouse “where alarming amounts of fake products bearing the ‘Fortune’ brand name, Adani Wilmar’s flagship brand, were seized,” Adani Wilmar said.
The seized products included 126 plastic bottles of Fortune Kacchi Ghani mustard oil (1-liter package) without caps, 37 counterfeit refined soybean oil (1-liter bags), and 16 bottles of Fortune Sarso Oil (1-liter packages).
“We are very concerned about counterfeit products circulating in the market that pose risks to the health of consumers,” said spokesman Adani Wilmar.
Taking this matter seriously, the spokesperson said the company is cooperating with the authorities to quickly identify sources of counterfeiting, and take decisive action against unscrupulous merchants.
According to the statement, the company has launched an in-depth examination of the reported product, which has revealed significant mismatches in batch code details, fake QR codes, and different packaging materials, confirming the existence of counterfeit products.
