Abhijit Chakravorty to be new MD & CEO of SBI Cards and Payment Services

Abhijit Chakravorty will be the new Managing Director and CEO of SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd (SBI Card) from 12th August 2023. He will succeed the current CEO Rama Mohan Rao Amara, who will transfer to the promoter State Bank of India.

The appointment of Abhijit Chakravorty as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, nominated by State Bank of India, is subject to necessary approvals including from shareholders at the next annual general meeting, SBI Card has informed BSE.

He is currently the Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India.

A graduate in Applied Chemistry, Chakravorty started his banking career as a Probationary Officer with SBI in the year 1988. He has amassed more than 34 years of rich experience in Retail and Corporate Banking, Offshore Operations and IT sector of the bank.

Chakravorty ran the Bank’s Bangladesh operations in his capacity as Chief Executive Officer and Country Head. He also held the position of General Manager (Channels and Operations) in the Bank’s Global Information Technology Center. Vertical Head responsible for IT operations for customer facing channels and payment systems.
