Rupee falls 15 paise to 82.31 against US dollar

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit opened sharply lower at 82.26 and touched an intraday high of 82.23 and a low of 82.37 against the dollar.
It finally ended at 82.31 (temporary), recording a decrease of 15 pounds from its previous closing at 82.16.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, rose 0.02 percent to 102.13.
On the domestic stock market front, the BSE Sensex rose 346.37 points, or 0.60 percent To end at 57,960.09 points, while the broader NSE Nifty index advanced by 129 points, or 0.76 percent, to 17,080.70 points.
Brent crude futures, the global benchmark, rose 0.94 percent to $79.39 a barrel.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) Net buyers turned up in the capital market on Tuesday as they bought shares worth Rs 1,531.13 crore, according to exchange data.
