IoTechWorld to supply 500 agri-drones to IFFCO

Drone maker IoTechWorld Avigation said Monday it has secured a contract from the fertilizer cooperative. IFFCO To supply 500 drones, which will mainly be used to spray urea nanoparticles and nano-DAP.

The Indian Fertilizer Farmers Co-operative Limited (IFFCO) last week announced its plan to purchase 2,500 drones to spray its nano-Urea and Nano-DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) products. The industry estimates that the total cost may be around Rs 250-300 crore in the project for which some other hardware will also be procured.

“The company will deliver 500 drones to IFFCO by December 2023,” IoTechWorld co-founder Anoop Upadhyay said in a statement. AGRIBOT, an IoTechWorld drone, was specifically designed and programmed for fertilizers, said another co-founder Dipak Bhardwaj, and the order from IFFCO is a testament to the company’s strength in the drone sector.

Headquartered in Gurugram, IoTechWorld, backed by agrochemical company Dhanuka Agritech, is India’s first Directorate General of Civil Aviation– Type of approved UAV “AGRIBOT”. Besides IFFCO, IoTechWorld Avigation has also partnered with agrochemical company Syngenta and has operated 17,000 km yatra drones in different parts of the country.

The company aims to sell more than 3,000 drones this fiscal year and is also exploring export opportunities to neighboring countries as well as Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Other manufacturers who have also received orders from IFFCO are Garuda AerospaceParas Aerospace, Thanos Technology, General Aeronautics and Dhaksha Unmanned Systems, each ordering 400 drones.

IFFCO said the decision to purchase these drones will result in the development of 5,000 rural entrepreneurs who will be trained in drone spraying.
